Programs
When school is out, Raise a Child of the Carolinas steps in. We provide year-round educational experiences that empower youth, uplift families, and strengthen the communities we call home.

Our safe, engaging programs give students in grades K–12 a place to grow, not just academically, but as confident, compassionate, and curious individuals. We reduce risky behaviors, support emotional wellness, and inspire purpose-driven learning.

At the heart of our work is our S.T.E.A.M+ model, a hands-on, forward-thinking approach that blends Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math with real-world life skills. From coding and creative arts to leadership development and health education, every program helps youth discover who they are and what they’re capable of.
We offer afterschool clubs, seasonal camps (such as summer and spring break), and single-day “Teacher Workday” experiences, ensuring students always have access to opportunities that open doors and spark bold futures.

Afterschool Academy
The RACC Afterschool Academy is designed to reverse the effects of learning loss while enhancing the academic growth of K-5 students. Through high-quality homework support and innovative enrichment activities, we provide students with engaging learning experiences that foster both academic success and personal development.

Our afterschool programs are hosted in partnership with local schools throughout Mecklenburg County and beyond, ensuring that students have access to enriching academic support and engaging learning experiences within their communities.
Young Leaders Program
Our Young Leaders Program equips teens with the skills and experiences needed to succeed in college, careers, and beyond. Through mentorship, hands-on workshops, and real-world career exploration, participants develop essential leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities.

Whether they are exploring college opportunities, preparing for the workforce, or building confidence as future leaders, the Young Leaders Program provides the guidance and resources to help teens take charge of their futures with clarity and purpose.

Seasonal Camps
Our seasonal camps provide supervised, action-packed, and engaging out-of-school programs during summer, winter, and spring breaks, as well as select teacher workdays. Designed for kids grades K-5*, these camps offer a safe and fun environment where participants can enhance academics, develop new skills, build self-esteem, and form lasting friendships.

*For older youth, we offer leadership opportunities through our Counselors-in-Training (ages 15-17) and Counselor (ages 18+) programs. Consideration is given for siblings grades 6-8 to participate in camps.

Summer Camp: Camp Can Be
Camp Can Be is a summer camp designed to provide an enriching and engaging experience for kids through academics, field trips, games, crafts, and character development activities.

Each week, campers will explore exciting themes based on our core focus areas: S.T.E.A.M+ (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Math, and critical life lessons). With a balance of hands-on learning and fun-filled activities, Camp Can Be encourages curiosity, creativity, and personal growth in a safe and supportive environment.
